Comments: This image was one of my first taken with the venerable SBIG STL-11000. I took this image and published it way back in 2005. My how time flies!

The Trifid Nebula is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful objects in the heavens. Its composition of emission, reflection and dark nebulae make a dramatic image. This region of the Milky Way galaxy is abundant with hydrogen gas and numerous faint emission nebulae can be seen when imaged through a hydrogen-alpha filter.
